Thoughtful Hosting: The Sustainability Choices We’re Making (Without Making It Weird)

We’re not aiming for perfection—we’re aiming for better. Hosting short-term rentals means making hundreds of small decisions that either create waste… or quietly reduce it.

Here are a few sustainability choices we’ve been rolling into our homes (including Casa Linda), in ways that keep the stay comfortable and easy.

Reusables where they actually work: cloth napkins

This is one of our favorite swaps because it’s simple, it feels nicer than paper, and it reduces a steady stream of disposable waste. Cloth napkins are also one of those “small luxury” touches
that guests tend to appreciate.

Eco-friendlier supplies that still perform

We’ve been shifting toward products that reduce plastic and harsh ingredients—without compromising on cleanliness:
● detergent sheets (less packaging and shipping weight than bulky jugs)
● more sustainable sponges (including bio-based options)
● cleaning products we feel good about using regularly

Quick-drying towels that use less energy over time

Towels that dry faster can mean less dryer time and easier turnover logistics. It’s one of those behind-the-scenes choices that supports both sustainability and operations.
